Each fully mechanical piece of the gun rendered in beatiful 3D works reallistically; you empty the clip - there’s stil one round in the chamber, c**k it - the unused round pops out, the responsive trigger mechanics makes it easy to hold your device in your hand and still make it fell…well..as natural as an on screen gun is going to get. It’s also easy to overlook that the way this app is set up it has the speaker (for iPhone users) facing outwars (Our Note: very well observed), unlike other gun sims that have the speaker covered by your palm.

It’s sad to see so many people pissed about the update. Yes, it’s been a long time coming, but it wasn’t the dev’s fault; The update got backed up somewhere deep within the bowels of the App Store’s HQ, as it needs to be approved before it’s uploaded to the servers.

This update was well worth the wait. The new selection of different sized magazines is awesome. Going with a smaller clip you can get ready to reload as your firing the last shot, with a larger clip you can aimlessly shoot as whatever happens to be around. The app is well worth purchasing for these features alone, but with the new mini-Uzi with a selection of firing rates should persuade anyone with an eager trigger finger who overlooked this underrated app for one with a larger selection of weapons. While it’s true there are only two guns as of this time the app strives for quality over quantity and does a damn good job at what it does.

I bought both mobileGuns and “i-Gun” and I can honestly say I open up mG fives times more than i-G simply because if I want to shoot at something with my phone to briefly amuse me I want it to be fun and responsive, while I’m not here to review “i-Guns” I feel that their often unresponsive triggers, annoying tilt sensoring, and clunky menus detract from what both apps are trying to do, make a realistic and engaging gun sim.”

Inguyiein from USA said: “For the new Uzi update. How come there’s no vibration when I shoot the Uzi?”. The iPhone device doesn’t support so many calls to vibrate per second.

It’s not the developers’ fault the update Is taking so long it’s A: Apple’s fault for rejecting it and B: You guys’ fault for giving it a bad rating beacsuse of the update problem, which leads to less buys and then leads to less developer funding they haven’t updated the blog in a while because they’re hard at work coding the darn thing! Please say I helped so people will see this! And if you are an Apple drone, please don’t remove this like so many other helpful posts I’ve made!

EDIT: According to the devs’ blog, the update with the new micro Uzi should be released by the 15th, that’s Friday! If any of you have bought I-Gun, GunSmoke or any other copies, I urge you to write bad reviews so that the first and the best, MobileGuns, can get back on top where it belongs! And on a final note, do remember that it’s Apple’s pickiness causing the update to take so long! Happy shooting!

While it doesn’t have as many guns, that is because the ones they do have are so well done, and I would assume they are going to come out with more in addition to the current two. That being said there are much depth to gun apps if you don’t love guns. This one is the best though and if you do like guns get this app.”

When selecting a gun, “New 3D Gun” is dimmed and cannot be selected. This may lead to user confusion. Please view the attached screenshot for an example.

We’re going to try once again to submit a new binary. We’re really considering a new distribution via jailbreak (Cydia Store).

First of all, they copied our design. Well, they tried. The first one it’s one downloaded image from Google with one weird yellow color changed with Photoshop. And the other one, is a copy of our micro UZI weapon.

We encourage you to check this “making of” post and see how we have designed every aspect of our interface, animations and sounds. If you compare the Youtube videos, you will see the difference.

Well, not only our interface was copied. This is one banner Ad of our application. We always think that one gun application must fit on screen and don’t move. So here is one description of our poor copy friend.

And to finish, they have also copied one nice feature of our application: The bump to reload. And of course, our description.

What we can say about it? We have always believed that our application is the Best Gun Application for iPhone and iPod Touch. For us this is a confirmation of our belief.

For you, customer, think about this: We are Apple consumers, we have the best smartphone or mp3 player on the market (iPhone / iPod Touch). We don’t buy false chinese or korean devices. Why our software has to be??

We like to think that even a simple application of this kind, must have some work behind it. We couldn’t have given you an application which consists in a downloaded photo from Google with some free sounds downloaded from the web, some poor animations and boring menus with sounds and then ask you for a dollar!! Yes, it’s just a dollar, but it has to worth it.

Research.

We are designing a game that pretend to be very realistic. And the only way for design a simulator it’s do some research. So we have started by searching all the references material about a micro UZI machine gun as posible. Manuals, videos.etc.

The Design Process.

This time we have used a different way to design our weapon. We designed it using 3D tools (3D MAX  for the experts). The main body and all the details were modeled by Agustin “Black Power”, our 3D  specialist.

Trying to not drive Agustin crazy, we have made several changes until we got a perfectly fitted image on the iPhone screen. Great job, thanks to Agustin. So the next steps were post production finishing. By using Photoshop we created shadows, textures, smoke and fire.

Weapons interface.

This update involved the design of new elements of interface. One of them is the “peak-weapon” window. Combining the nice tools on the iPhone SDK and the Core Animation features we created a beatiful custom designed window. We offer a very interactive way to navigante between weapons. We have also intergrated all the code and written new parts of it in order to built the microUZI engine.

One last step: audio.

The last step was to design the new sounds of this weapon. Of course, a UZI don’t sounds like a pistol. So new sounds were added, shots, reload and others.

We would like to clarify that an update is not something that simple (as you can see on this post).

It involved a lot of work of a lot of guys. We think that there are many developers that just donwload a picture and sounds and make an app full of crashes and bugs. That is easy and fast.

We don’t work like that. We want to delivery the best product careing about all the details.

So we are planning to deliver more weapons and more updates. But it won’t be over the few days or weeks. We don’t want to make a “18-in-1 arsenal”, “6 weapons”. And if you count them, there are three guns with different sounds and some “accessories”. Don’t be fooled by poor copies, expend your money on something that worth.

So take care, compare very well before buying any gun application. And if you liked this one. You can get it here!

One nice feature on this version, it’s the capacity to choose your magazines, with different quantity of bullets.

Initial tests and code.

Our initial tests and codes were done with some poor graphics (at least for us, some other guns app don’t think that way) downloaded from the web. At first we were only interested in building the interactions and animations. Set up the control of the accelerometer, the touchable areas and other technical aspects.

At that point some developers would have look at that first version and say: “Wow! This is great, let’s put it to sell right now!”. However, we didn’t think that way, we still had a lot work to do. So let’s follow with the story shall we?

The Design Process.

This was a fun part, in fact there’s much more to see here since the other part it’s just code, and we can’t show you that. Can we?

Ever since the beginning we wanted to create a real gun simulator, full of details of what would be a real gun operation. We wanted it to look and feel like a gun. So in this process we had todesign something that would fit the screen of the device and at the same time if it had to be used as real gun would, with a trigger, not pressing everywhere. So that screen isn’t fully covered with the hand. So this was our challenge and here are the initial sketches:

We tried these skecthes on the iPhone several times until we obtained the best fit.

After that we could move to the next step. All the following images show one step by step the amazing work of our interface

designer. Incredible Photoshop work, every detail painted by hand: shadows, textures, fire, bullets and even smoke. Seriously, just the “how to make smoke on Photoshop” is a subject for an entire tutorial. A real nice job done here, we are proud.

Mix it all together.

The next step in our process, wa to go back to the code and give functionality to everything. The buttons, displays and more animations. This new code even included random animation for the bullets and the smoke. Really? Yes, maybe you haven’t noticed, but if you have your mobileGuns right now, open it and shot a couple of times. Pay attention to this detail: the bullets always are animated in random directions. And the smoke also disappears in different directions. How would you miss that?

One last step: audio.

The last step was the sound of a gun. The amazing stereo sound effects were recorded and mixed by a professional studio and we took care that every single animation had its unique sound. The bullet cap’s hitting the floor, the echo of the shot, the trigger clicks. All these were created and then synchronized by code. Later we needed all our work to sound it’s best way on the micro-speaker of the Apple® devices. Wich is not a good speaker, we must admit.

It is a long post, but it is small when compared to the amount of work we had to put in to create this application. And we still continue to improve and update it.
